Sharing pertinent information between advocates and caregivers for children and adults with special needs has always been a slow, cumbersome process—until now. It was Kathryn Parsons* personal experience fighting for the life of her first daughter who has a Mitochondrial Disease and advocating for her second daughter who has dyslexia and ADD which led her to the concept of her new and highly successful website—Boonzee.com.
Parsons felt frustrated on behalf of all parents and caregivers functioning daily without a simple, fast way to share accurate information about special needs service providers and programs. *There’s got to be a better way,* was the feeling that led Kathryn to share her concept, a true gift, with others via the internet. Boonzee.com facilitates communication between service professionals and caregivers of people with special needs through an easy to use online platform.
Parsons, formerly a stock broker, is one of the co-founders of the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (UMDF) and is a certified consultant and coach. Her team-building and facilitation skills have been utilized by corporations, non-profits, schools and individuals over the last ten years. As time permits, she continues to offer her expertise in entrepreneurship, communication and advocacy through public speaking and consulting in a wide variety of industries.
Having worked tirelessly for years to research the best avenues for caring for her daughters* variety of needs, Parsons believes wholeheartedly in the Boonzee revolution. She applies first-hand what she teaches to the team of dedicated individuals who contribute to make Boonzee a force on the national landscape. Now all special needs caregivers and professionals have the opportunity to contribute and learn from a dynamic community with a few quick key-strokes. Sharing personal experiences or finding individual reviews about specific service providers has never been easier, thanks to Kathryn Parsons* vision and determination.
About the Boonzee Team
Boonzee is dedicated to the thousands of families around the world who triumph daily over challenges and to the amazing professionals dedicated to improving life for special families, one patient at a time.
How is it that with all the searching we do on the internet, all the friends we talk to or email, all the articles we read and news reports we watch that we still continue to find out about great products, services and doctors months after we could have used them? This was the frustration that drove Kathryn Parsons to create Boonzee.
As a parent of two children each with very different disabilities (one a devastating metabolic disorder and the other with dyslexia) - Kathryn envisioned a more effective way to network, a better way to reach quality professionals and a place that understands what "special" really means. Life with a special needs family member is challenging enough. We don't have control over much, but it's time we make the parts we can control simpler and easier.
We have an awesome, but shy, team. Scott, Lisa, Gae, Joel and countless others lend their expertise for hours on end to make this project possible. We are all very excited to see Boonzee flourish and truly become THE place for fulfilling special needs - of all ages.
It's a grand vision: make Boonzee the World's Biggest and Best site for all Special Needs.
